Join us Tomorrow for Jummah Prayer at JFK

Join us on Friday, February 3rd at 12:30pm at JFK International Airport, Terminal 4 Arrivals for an interfaith action and Jummah prayer.

The New York Immigration Coalition and Majlis Al Shura: The Islamic Leadership Council of Greater NY are an action at JFK airport to show solidarity with the Muslim and refugee community in response to President's Trumps Executive Order. Since last week, dozens of individuals from the seven Muslim countries banned by President Trump's executive orders have been detained at JFK, as well as removed from airplanes coming to the United States. Refugees who have been in a two-year process to secure their documents to come to the U.S are now being refused entry. The NYIC is committed to fighting for a complete reversal of these executive orders and protecting members of our Muslim and immigrant communities.

Last Friday's Jummah Prayer was a powerful demonstration of solidarity with New York's Muslim and immigrant communitiesThis Friday, we will conduct one at JFK International Airport, where people have been detained, held, and questioned.  Communities are invited to participate in a public Jummah prayer at JFK. Allies will link arms to protect the prayer.

WHERE: JFK Terminal 4 Arrivals (outside, west side of terminal 4)

WHEN: Friday, February 3rd at 12:30 PM

  • Imam Al-Hajj Tali 'Abdur-Rashid, The Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood
  • Tahanie Aboushi, volunteer lawyer supporting #NoBanJFK efforts
  • Suzanne Loebl, 91-year old Jewish Refugee & Holocaust survivor
  • Muzna Ansari, Immigration Policy Manager, New York Immigration Coalition (moderator)

Together, we will show the Administration that #OurNY welcomes and respects the dignity and rights of refugees, Muslims, and immigrants. We will turn our outrage into action.

Help spread the word.

(And if you can't make it, consider donating to the NYIC so that we can keep up the momentum to stop these anti-immigrant and Islamophobic executive orders.)

In Community,

The Staff at the New York Immigration Coalition
