Administrative Intern
The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella policy and advocacy organization of more than 200 groups in New York State that work with immigrants and refugees. The NYIC successfully brings together multi-ethnic, multi-racial, and multi-sector constituencies to pursue common goals. These include: advocating for equitable immigration policies; improving immigrants’ access to services and public agencies; combating discrimination and ensuring civil rights protections; educating both newcomer communities and the public-at-large about immigration issues; encouraging immigrant civic and electoral participation; and fostering an improved quality of life for New York's diverse newcomer communities.
POSITION: Administrative Intern (12-15 hours per week) for Spring Semester and possibly summer
Responsibilities include:
- Support the Director of Administrative and Administrative Assistant, including compiling expense reports, organizing administrative files, and other administrative duties;
- Help in maintaining organizational database;
- Assist in data entry and other administrative tasks for organizational campaigns and events;
- Support, and if available, participate in organizational events; and
- Contribute to other organizational projects as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Seeking a college student; with strong organizational and computer skills; (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively with diverse staff; bi/multilingual ability preferred. The NYIC is looking for friendly, dedicated, and motivated college student who is interested in supporting NYIC’s goals. Ideal position for college freshman or sophomore looking to learn the office environment and be involved in immigrants’ rights. Course credit available if school or institution allows.
