We invite you to become a member of the New York Immigration Coalition. As an NYIC member, you can join forces with other concerned groups and individuals to tackle the challenges facing immigrants and refugees at the local, state and national levels. We will also keep you apprised of fast-breaking policy developments, key community concerns, and the latest research on immigrants and immigration so that you can be a more effective advocate for fair and generous immigration and immigrant policies.
Additionally, you will have access to the resources of our organization to help you in your own service and advocacy work:
- NYIC Collaboratives and Working Groups - The NYIC convenes a number of working groups formed around specific issues such immigration reform, education, health, housing, voter education, workers' rights, civil rights, legal services, and other issue-oriented meetings providing important materials and forums for brainstorming, planning advocacy activities, and networking;
- NYIC Immigration News - providing current information on the latest immigration policies and key advocacy activities;
- Advocacy Opportunities - Albany Advocacy Day, New York City Advocacy Day, Washington, D.C. Advocacy Day, National Citizenship Day and other events;
- Policy Information - including updates on the latest policy developments, our annual legislative agendas, fact sheets, and reports;

Join our efforts to:
- Restore balance and fairness to U.S. immigration laws and addressing legalization concerns through a variety of legislative vehicles at the Federal level;
- Improve our education system by increasing the quality and quantity of English language instruction, eliminating language and other barriers that block parent participation, and addressing practices that chill the enrollment and prevent the appropriate assessment and placement of students from immigrant families;
- Increase resources for community-based programs providing English language classes, legal assistance, citizenship and other important services to newcomers;
- Protect the rights and increase opportunities for immigrants to access quality, affordable health care and insurance; and
- Build on the success of our voter education and mobilization campaigns by helping immigrants and their families to be active and informed participants in the electoral process.
The NYIC has become a forceful and visible presence in local, state and national policy debates around issues affecting newcomers. The Coalition is also, through our Board of Directors and membership, one of the most diverse organizations in New York. We hope you will consider becoming a member of the NYIC and become involved in our network to build on our successes and enable us to overcome the many challenges that we still face.
