The Administration's Step Toward Uniting Immigrant Families

Today, the Administration announced a small but significant proposal that would change 3-or10-Year bar waiver processing and allow the Department of Homeland Security to process waivers inside the United States for certain immigrant visa applicants so that the applicants can remain united with their families. While the proposed procedure is not expected to go into effect for at least several months, it is expected to reduce the wait time for some immigrant spouses and children who are out of status to be reunited with their loved ones who are lawful permanent residents or citizens in the United States.
