Community Education
Community Education
We organize and conduct trainings and community presentations to educate immigrant tenants and housing advocates about tenants rights and housing policy. Trainings have covered such topics as how to respond to eviction proceedings; landlord harassment; code violations; language access barriers; immigration status restrictions to funding; how to start tenant associations; an overview of fair housing laws; illegal housing conversions, techniques for organizing tenants, immigration status and affordable housing benefits, basic tenants’ rights and community and advocacy opportunities to address the city’s housing crisis. We also help to gather and disseminate important information on housing for tenants and housing advocates. See below for a list of helpful resources and educational materials.
