Family Engagement & Leadership
Family Engagement & Leadership
Parent / Family involvement in education is essential to the success of students and their schools. The research is unequivocal. Parent involvement promotes improved school readiness, attendance, behavior, student achievement, and ultimately increases the likelihood of high school graduation. Parents and youth, as the key adult stakeholders with the most direct interest in the quality of their schools, are eager to become partners in their students’ or their own education, partners in their schools, and partners and decision-makers in school reforms.
Recognizing that family involvement is an essential element for increased student achievement, we envision a partnership between schools and families that recognizes and fosters communities’ histories, languages, cultural backgrounds, and different family structures.
