Help Protect Your Communities Against Immigration Fraud

Dear NYIC Members and Allies,

As you know the Senate has been considering a proposal to reform our immigration laws.  The current proposal includes a path to citizenship for the millions of undocumented immigrants in the United States today.  However, it still needs to be voted on and passed by the full Senate, and debated and passed in the House,  before it is signed into law by the President.

But with immigration such a hot topic in the news, we are hearing daily of unscrupulous practitioners and unauthorized immigrant service providers (“notarios”) advertising their services for benefits under a new law—a law that doesn’t yet exist.

They are taking people’s money by making false promises of obtaining them immigration relief immediately, when no such relief is available.

In fact, filing an application one does not qualify for could not only prevent the applicant from obtaining legal status through a potential, future legalization plan, but could also lead to their arrest and deportation from the United States.

Click HERE to access the flyer designed by the American Immigration Lawyers Association, warning against notario fraud.  Please display and distribute it widely, to help us get the word out and put an end to immigration fraud. If you would like a Spanish or Portuguese version of the flyer, please email cmackler@thenyic.org.

Thank you for your continued support!
