On Thursday, June 26th, the NYIC held a Town Hall focusing on immigrants the health care access at the Arab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC) in Brooklyn. Jackie Vimo, Director of Health Advocacy at NYIC, was joined by Rebecca K. Jackson, Downstate Director of Community Outreach of NY State of Health, and they addressed a wide range of issues such as; how the Affordable Care Act (ACA) affects immigrants, the process on acquiring health insurance through the official New York State Marketplace, and other options available to immigrants (Emergency Medicaid, HHC Options, and additional financial assistance). The NYIC is pleased to report a great turnout with more than 30 participants, and with the information shared in Arabic, Spanish, and French, it was a very informative session for everyone who attended.
