Training
The NYIC’s Immigrant Concerns Training Institute provides trainings for attorneys and Board of Immigration Appeals–accredited representatives of NYIC member agencies to help them build and maintain their competency and effectiveness in providing immigration legal services. We offer both CLE and non-CLE trainings.
what we do
The Immigrant Concerns Training Institute (ICTI) offers a full calendar of continuing legal education (CLE) and non-CLE trainings on topics critical to organizations, social service providers, government employees, and attorneys serving immigrant communities. The trainings cover a wide range of topics including: Survey of Immigration Law, Family-based Immigration Law, Adjustment of Status, Citizenship & Naturalization, Relief from Removal, etc. These trainings help legal service providers stay prepared to offer top-notch legal services. The institute also provides free informational talks to the staff of community-based organizations and the members of the communities that they serve to help them better understand the immigration law.
Staff of member agencies that provide immigration legal services can contact the institute to receive one-on-one legal advice to help them resolve immigration legal questions. This is a valuable service to new practitioners as well as experienced practitioners who might be dealing with an area of the law new to them. The ICTI also provides referral services to people seeking legal advice for immigration questions.
